Do you feel you need to find your soul mate? Well, look no further than into a "bowl of soul" from the Naked Lounge Tea and Coffeehouse.

Located on 15th and Q Street sits a quaint, urban coffeehouse known as the Naked Lounge. There is indoor and outdoor seating with a view of a park, filled with families hanging out and taking in the city-like atmosphere that we call downtown.

The café has the vibe of a place that you can hang out whether it is for conversation after dinner, a place to meet up before you go out to the clubs and bars (that are located only a few feet away), or just to spend a few hours getting some of that overbearing homework done.

The atmosphere of the Naked Lounge is welcoming and serene. It is a place that many patrons seem to call home. There are comfortable couches and vintage chairs that you can sink into and read a good book, or catch up on the latest Hollywood gossip in your favorite magazine. The artwork displayed on the walls of the café reflects its name with sensual and pensive representations of the human body.

The drinks in the café are as unique as the name and café itself. The most beloved drink that many patrons enjoy is the "bowl of soul." This drink is a concoction of chamomile tea and soy milk served in an oversized cup and topped with specialty foam.

This tea and coffeehouse is part of a small chain that stems from Chico. The Naked Lounge not only serves coffee, but also roasts it in a manner called "naked roasting." Naked roasting is the process of roasting the harder coffee beans at a medium temperature for a longer period of time. The coffee beans that the Naked Lounge use are grown at a higher altitude and make a stronger bean for your tasting pleasure. This is a self-made company with all funding and constructing being done by the owner, Christopher Pendarvis.

It is amazing to sit in a café that has been constructed by the actual person who owns it. This is so much better than a corporate ownership because the ambiance and people who work the café care so much more. They know what they are talking about when it comes to their coffee. They seem to know so much because they want to, not because some bigwig wants them to.

You are invited to partake in an experience that may have only been seen in an episode of "Friends" and join them for a cup-o'-joe. The Naked Lounge is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., 365 days a year. They also have wireless Internet, so having homework on WebCT is no excuse to not drop in for a visit.

If the Naked Lounge is known for allowing Matthew Perry of "Friends" infamy to be filmed there, you can be sure I won't be seen there.
He met me on a LIRR years ago, and was as superficial as any other "celeb", and whatever he is payed, it is too much. (Continued…)
