So, what do you all think of Sacramento State this semester? What are your thoughts on President Alexander Gonzalez? How do you like your classes? What new things would you like to see on campus?

I talked to several students today who voiced their opinions on such questions.

It seems there are mixed feelings about President Gonzalez.

"I met him and I think that he's an excellent guy. He's very welcoming," said Davin Manago, junior communications studies major.

Steve Bauer, senior business finance major, said that only one group on campus is really affected by the president's actions.

"I don't think Gonzalez really affects anyone but the faculty," he said.

However, Trey D., senior biology major, said Gonzalez is not just neglecting faculty.

"I think he's concentrating more on himself than on the students...you know, that's what they put him here for," he said.

However, it's not simply the administration's representatives that students are concerned about. Bauer is hoping his classes will provide him with a solid background to begin his finance career. He is also looking forward to networking this semester.

"I have five finance classes and they all seem to be repeating the same material," he said. "I hope the professors will make an effort to provide guest speakers to interact with."

Junior communications major Anna Leon said she wants more interesting events to take place on campus.

"I think we should have more on-ground activities...we should have a variety...because I feel that a lot of things done on campus are geared toward certain audiences," she said.

Ashley Morgan, junior speech pathology major, agreed and mentioned that on campuses like San Diego State and San Francisco State, the first week of the semester is a huge event. There are musical groups and tons of things for students to take part in. She would like to see a bit more of that at Sac State.

However Morgan is delighted by the speech pathology department.

"Our department chair is amazing and every other teacher I have is fantastic," she said. "They're doing an amazing job with this program."

Jeff Katz, senior recreation major, agreed that there are definite positives on the campus, but also a lot of work to be done in the future.

"I think President Gonzalez did make an improvement on the parking situation, however, my friend, the battle is not over," he said. "What happened to the chickens?"

It seems that students have a lot on their minds this semester. What do you think about our campus? What changes would you make? What positive and negative experiences have you had so far this semester?
