Women's soccer deadlocks with Montana in scoreless tie

The Sacramento State women's soccer team battled conference rival Montana to a 0-0 tie on Friday, marking the first scoreless game the Hornets have had all season.
The Hornets attempted only four shots in the first half. Of the seven combined shots between the two teams in the first half, only one was on goal.
The Hornets came out more aggressively in the second half, attempting seven shots while getting whistled for 13 fouls in the process. Montana improved on its first half performance as well by taking five shots. At the end of regulation, neither team had yet to put up any points and the game headed into sudden death overtime.
The teams combined for only four shots in the two overtime periods, and neither squad was able to knock in the golden goal. It is the second tie in a row for the Hornets, and the team is now undefeated over their last three games. Sac State has taken a match into overtime in five of its last six games and is 2-1-4 in overtime this season.
The Hornets are now 7-3-4 on the year and 1-0-2 in conference play. They have yet to record an away victory this season through six road matches.
Montana's record moves to 1-1-1 in conference and 3-9-1 overall. The Grizzlies will next face Portland State at home on Sunday.
Sophomore Mandy Trojan recorded her fifth shutout of the season in the tie, and notched five saves for the Hornets.
The Hornets next game will be at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Eastern Washington. The Eagles are 6-6-0 this season and have a 1-2-0 record in conference play. Sac State defeated the Eagles 2-1 in last year's meeting at Hornet Field.
