University Police: Report of sexual assaults in dorms

University Police posted a bulletin on the Sac State website on Oct. 30 notifying students of two unrelated sexual assaults in the residence halls.

Both suspects were known to the people who filed the complaints, and are being investigated by University Police, Sgt. Kelly Clark said.

The bulletin reported these were isolated incidents, with no indication of a threat to the campus community.

Theft suspect arrested

University Police announced the arrest of David Moreno on Friday.

Moreno is suspected of stealing more than $13,000 worth of computers, electronics, books and master building keys from the school and students. A search of Moreno's car resulted in a substantial amount of stolen property from Sequoia Hall being recovered, according to a University Police press release.

'Earth Chair' vandalized

An installation art piece was vandalized Oct. 29 on the lawn outside the library. The "Earth Chair," made by Matthew Dunkerly, junior art studio major, was built out of a material called earth plaster.

The piece was found knocked out of its cement foundation on the morning of Oct. 30, said Dunkerly, who filed a report with University Police.

"It kind of bummed me out because I was trying to do something really nice for the campus," Dunkerly said.

The "Earth Chair" was the first in a series showcasing environmentally friendly building technologies as part of an art class focusing on installations.
