Fashion show in the union Nov. 18 [Click to enlarge]

The Student Fashion Association hosted the Global Bazaar Fashion show on Tuesday to support local student designers, promote the apparel and marketing design major, and help support the Sacramento Children's Home.

"It's been going for 3 or 4 years now," said Lauren Klassen, SFA officer and senior apparel and marketing design major. "It is based on volunteers, whoever signs up and wants to participate in it can. This year our show was a lot smaller because most of our girls graduated last semester, who would have participated in the show in the past."

Klassen said that while the show was aimed at promoting the SFA, the most important aspect was that those involved saw what it took to put the whole fashion show together.

"For the girls who are interested in designing, its exposure and experience for them in putting together the show and everything it entails."

This year's show featured three student designer collections and one collection from Marshall's Cube Boutique, which sponsored the show along with Twisted, French Cuff Boutique and Deeda Salon.

The first student designer, Estefania Bozalla, featured a collection designed to be worn in her home country of Argentina. "I wanted to incorporate the global bazaar theme and decided I'd go with a beach theme," Bozalla said.

The second student designer, Tamika Bellamy, showcased her Asian Persuasion line that incorporated Asian and modern aspects to create clothing for a more curvy figure.

Klassen presented two separate lines, one called Klassy for a fun, flirty night on the town for a confident woman, and Puppy Love, which exhibited playful clothing for dogs.

Marshall's Cube Boutique wrapped up the show, and although it boasted designer labels at half the price, students seemed to prefer the SFA designs.

"I didn't like the Marshall's line, it was a little outdated," said Dao Tran, junior business major, "I would have liked to see more of the theme of the global bazaar, but I liked the Asian inspired line."

Tiffany Hydo, junior fashion design major, said "It could have been better, since there weren't many collections, but overall it was interesting to see a show like this come together."
