Gays and lesbians came together for a night of laughs honoring Pride Week

Comedians, Mikhail Chernyavsky, the online managing editor for the Hornet and Bridget McManus gave Sacramento State students a few hours of raunchy and sometimes offensive entertainment Wednesday evening in the Hinde Auditorium.

Noticing an almost packed auditorium as I walked in and quickly took my seat just minutes before show time, everyone seemed excited for tonight's sets as I overhead a group in front of me talk about how hilarious and edgy McManus is.

Out first came the noticeably nervous Chernyavsky who delivered a disaster-free set making jokes about being Russian, his family, politics and often being mistaken as gay.

He made it clear several times he wasn't, much to the dismay of the fellow gays in the audience that shouted, "awe."

Clearly the audience came to see McManus who paraded out on the stage with great energy and fire that the crowd immediately roared with applause.

She started out by making fun of the fact that Sacramento State's nickname is "sac state" and wanting to rename it "areola state" saying she hates all ball sacs, clearly.

While the majority of her jokes included foul language and many awkward sexual references it was hard to deny how funny she is and how much crowd involvement she brings to her set.

Jessica Rodriguez, freshman civil engineering major said her favorite joke of the night was one delivered by Chernyavsky.

"The red bull joke about the seamen was hilarious," she said. "I love red bull, but now I don't know if I want to drink it anymore."

Jessica Heskin, victim advocate, said she thoroughly enjoyed both performances.

"I really enjoyed the areola state joke. I want a t-shirt that says that," she said. "I want one now."

I especially enjoyed McManus's song at the end of her set, which goes, "Leadership begins here, the school is crawling with queers."
